Once again the Brits and the Yanks have teamed up to make something special. Pendleton from Portland, Oregon has got in touch with the British footwear specialist’s Dr Martens for their most recent collaborative effort.

Pendleton Woolen Mills have been around since 1863 and are famous for their Native-American print. Originally the company produced blankets for the surrounding Umatilla, Cayuse and Walla Walla tribes but quickly expanded to the rest of the South-West. After 1912, the company decided it was time to foray into clothing and even produced uniforms for the US military during World War II. Today, Pendleton is still a privately-held family business.

Instead of simply stacking the shelves with the spoils of their joint venture, the pair has released a fascinating video showcasing the various skills and processes it takes to make both the intricate native patterns and the seven-eyelet 1460 boot. From the cutting of the leather to the spinning of spools to the punching of the eyelets, almost every aspect of production is laid bare. Trimming, welting, washing and even a glimpse at the renowned AirWair technology is flashed across the screen for us all to see.
