J. Lindeberg Clothing: SS13 Collection

J. Lindeberg Clothing: SS13 Collection

Entitled ‘Sweden from Above’; the spring/summer 2013 collection from J. Lindeberg takes inspiration from the colour and contours of the small towns, forests and farmlands that punctuate the country’s Scandinavian landscape. Head Designer Jessy Heuvelink pays further tribute to the label’s native environment – “I’m inspired by the geometrical shapes created by nature. The diversity; the colours, lines and textures.”

Recently revealed at New York Fashion Week to great critical acclaim, Lindeberg has found itself at the spearhead of the sudden rise in popularity of Swedish fashion imprints in the US. This boom is likely down to the distinctly wearable, modest yet edgy designs synonymous with the stylish Stockholm scene – an ethos clearly present in the brand’s latest collection.

Founded in 1997 as a label best known for introducing fashionable style into golf wear, J. Lindeberg now represents progressive tailoring combined with a contemporary sportswear influence, further adding to their crossover appeal. The spring/summer collection is a perfect example of this, putting casual menswear under a HD lens and digitally remastering with high contrast cuts, interlaced designs and neutral, olive/beige colour spacing.

The lightweight, nylon double rider jacket (ideal for wearing under one of the collection’s sports coats) is a particular success and perhaps a nod to Johan Lindeberg and his latest project – BLKDNM. Other noteworthy pieces include: pleated, selvedge denim jeans, slim cut, double breasted suits and loose fitting woven shirts.

The campaign’s rich textures and layered looks convey Lindeberg’s youthful take on sophisticated sportswear, and with flashes of vibrant orange and playful use of fabric, offers a vision of micro-trends moving into 2013.
